1- Garlic spray:

- soak 100 g chopped garlic in 2 tablespoons mineral oil or liquid paraffin for 48 hours

- add 2 cups (500ml) hot water and 30g pure soap

- cool and strain finely.

- store in glass or plastic clearly labelled

- To use: dilute 3 teaspoons in 4 cups (1litre) water for spraying

Use on sap sucking insects

2- Chilli spray:

Blend a large handful of fresh chillies in 2 cups hot water

Add half cup of pure salt flakes

Cool and strain finely

Store clearly labelled and dilute 4 teaspoons in 4 cups water

Spray on leaves or dribble neat on ant trails around infested pots.


Use: on sap sucking insects

3- bicarbonate of soda spray:

- mix together 2 g bicarbonate of soda and 2 teaspoons pure soap flakes in 4 cups hot water

cool and spray weekly on leaves.


Use: fungus, mildew and rust.

Dear Ethylene

Thank you for this useful information and simple sprays
the Garlic spray how many times should I spray the leaves??!! and can we use it on flower leaves?? you know there is alot of insects gathering on it!!
and the chilli spray can I use it at home on ant trails on the floor not only around infested pots??
